Early Ventures

Beginnings

As any great entrepreneur, I had to start somewhere. For me, that was my parents home in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As any 5 year old would tell you, candy is the only thing worth selling, so naturally I ran a candy store monopoly in the hallway of my home. My tiny empire was thriving (thanks mom!) Unbeknownst to the Federal Trade Commission of course. 

Growing up, my understanding of business took form through simple experiences, including a somewhat naive trade where I swapped a single peso for several less valuable coins, simply because there were more of them. It was a small yet amusing lesson in value, guided by my mom, that nudged me towards appreciating the finer details in the world of business.

Finding my Purpose

As lucrative as candy is, once I entered my adult years I decided to pivot my choice of product to sell to something different. My Father’s success in the clothing industry sparked some interest in me. It was during this time I learned two things: the value of purposeful business and connecting with your client base. 

I decided to launch a clothing brand. I created designs that I loved, even had them manufactured. But ultimately they fell short on quality. I wasn’t proud of what I was offering, therefore, I just could not bring myself to sell them. 

After this hurdle, I headed again into clothing. I launched a women’s training apparel line, a niche I initially knew very little about. Despite extensive research and creating a high-quality product, I was not able to truly understand what my audience wanted. I could not empathize with my customers needs and wants. 

These things taught me that filling a gap in the market is just not enough. I needed to find what drove me, what I could connect others with. To merge my passion with a profound understanding of the heartbeat of the market. What I needed was a purpose.

And I found that purpose in my next adventure. Partnering with a man called Santiago, someone I had met through my day job as a programmer, and he came with a plethora of knowledge in the bicycles industry. Bicycles are a huge part of every day life in Argentina, a means of getting around for everyone. He knew the market, and I knew how to capture it. 

I found this to be a good fit for me. I championed our web development and marketing strategies, optimizing our reach to our clients. Santiago worked on logistics and opening of a retail store. We were a good match.  

Guided by my earlier learnings — selling products that I genuinely valued and aligning them perfectly with consumer demands — we grew the business 20% month over month. 

This bicycle ecommerce endeavor blossomed into my first-ever successful business while I continued to work full-time in programming.

But does it end here? Certainly not. Lets head to Canada!

Leaving my home behind, I booked a one way flight to Ontario, Canada. Aside from my luggage, I took with me all my business experiences to date. Self-reliance became my pillar of strength, I was living on “survival mode”, if you will. I pushed myself, driven by necessity and fueled by determination. 

I transformed into a full-stack software developer, a marketer with certifications from Meta and Google. A sales strategist with experience managing a proficient sales team. Now I had the tools to do what I really wanted to do. What my true purpose is.
